My background is in the visual arts, making public art and teaching. I like keeping fit; paddling, yoga practice and cycling to work. The students I’ve tutored are enrolled in many different courses from Foundation Studies to Masters Degrees.

What would your superpower be and why?
My superpower is taking on new challenges!

I’m not at all afraid to try new things. Last year I started doing a weekly 5km run and canoe polo. This summer I swam the Henley to Grange Jetty swim. I like to take on new creative projects and mental challenges too.

I’m passionate about helping students discover their own approach to learning and what drives them - whether that’s in university or beyond. I love exploring different ways people learn and sharing inclusive, diverse opportunities that open new perspectives. Teaching is one of my greatest joys, but I’ve also had the privilege of mentoring students and colleagues (and learning a lot from them along the way!).

My career journey has been a bit of an adventure: I started as a commercial lawyer, then shifted through IT, project management, university teaching and leadership, and even some consulting. Like many of your tutors, I balance work with the things I love - great food, good company, photography, long walks, reading, and lately, a lot of fantasy novels.

I commenced my career as an Exploration Geologist and was fortunate to travel to many different sites, and to spend many years in Papua New Guinea (gold exploration).  There, I was able to indulge in my personal passion collecting insects and butterflies.

After moving to Adelaide in 2000, I undertook a law degree at University of Adelaide while working full-time.  During my 9 years of part-time study, I had many ups and downs, and was able to build up my resilience, and to make many younger friends.

After graduating, I now work full-time in a Federal Government Department as a Lawyer in law interpretation.  For the past 5 years, I have mentored Indigenous students through Wirltu Yarlu at the University of Adelaide.  I am passionate about giving back to the university student cohort.

I have been blessed to mentor many students and to watch them flourish both personally and academically.  It is a privilege to witness their growth, especially in confidence.

I balance my working life with all the things I love – gardening / roses, photography, embroidery and eating out.

If you could live anywhere in the world for one year, where would it be?
That is an easy question – Bora Bora or the Maldives!  As long as I had access to a hammock under a palm tree, close to white sandy beaches and gentle tropical breezes.

I have been an ATP tutor for 3 years. I am Aboriginal of Gurindji descent, and passionate about assisting Aboriginal peoples learning, improving study outcomes and achieving goals. I am married with two children. I love the beach and travelling with my family, exploring and finding hidden places.

If I could live anywhere in the world for a year, I would live in Japan.

I have lived in Adelaide all my life and love spending time outdoors, especially mountain biking, hiking and camping throughout South Australia and beyond. Connecting with locals and fellow adventurers gives me energy.

In 2025 I joined UniSA as a lecturer and course coordinator of the Human Nutrition course, where I enjoy creating engaging and relevant student learning experiences that spark curiosity and inspire students to play a role in tackling the complex challenges facing society. I have a PhD in Physiology with a focus on Nutrition Science and spent 20 years as a research scientist at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), leading projects on the health effects of nutrients, ingredients and food products, including collaborations with industry.

What’s the best quote you have heard?
“The Journey is the Destination” - I love the quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson as it is about being open to the process of getting to the destination or goal, putting in 100% effort, embracing the challenges along the way and often discovering that the process was more rewarding than reaching the destination.

My background is in nursing and I am a Registered Nurse. I have worked across a range of acute areas, but found my place in the chaos of emergency nursing.

I am passionate about helping Aboriginal students feel confident and supported at University, and aim to create a calm, respectful and supportive learning environment.

Outside of work, I love to travel, cook, and spend time outdoors with my son - whether that's swimming at the beach or exploring nature together.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Broome, Western Australia. I'm drawn to the relaxed coastal life style, and  warm weather, not to mention the endless fishing, swimming and exploring.

Originally from Brisbane I moved to Adelaide to start my medical degree and have been here ever since! I am currently a medical officer at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and divide my time between clinical work at the hospital and teaching through the Elevate program, which I have now been involved with since 2023. I am passionate about Medical and Health Education and enjoy teaching both content and helping out with study skills.

If I could live anywhere in the world for a year?
I would live in the Swiss Alps, to experience all the outdoor activities they have to offer both across winter and summer and there is some pretty cool retrieval/ trauma medicine there as well!

I am a Port Adelaide local and a proud father of two. I’ll be the first to admit I’ve jumped around study and career directions a lot over the years — which has given me plenty of chances to experiment with what makes study effective and, if possible, fun. I also love books, movies, sport, exercise and being outdoors.

I aim to create a relaxed, supportive, and collaborative learning environment for students that gives them the tools and confidence to enjoy learning.

I recently moved to Adelaide from Alice Springs where I worked for many years with Aboriginal organisations and communities as an adult educator, researcher and community development practitioner. I started with ATP in 2022 and am passionate about supporting students become skilled and successful learners. I love reading, hiking, good conversations and am a keen photographer.

I am a non-Aboriginal White settler, the third generation raised in Tarntanya (Adelaide) on magnificent, unceded Kaurna Land. My maternal line of grandmothers are from the Purtell and Prendergast clans of County Tipperary, Ireland. My father’s family are from Kent, England.

I am a PhD candidate with the University of South Australia’s Centre for Research in Educational and Social Inclusion. I have spent over a decade teaching and learning with adults and work currently as a sessional academic with University of South Australia in both Justice and Society and Education Futures academic units.

I earned a Master of Aboriginal Studies in 2021, whilst working as Anti-racism Project Officer for Reconciliation SA. My current PhD research focusses on racisms, social justice, Whiteness, and colonialism in education.

If you had a time machine, would go back in time or into the future and why?
I would be happy to travel to anywhere! I think the opportunity for different stories and perspectives are always available if I open my ears and heart.

I am a Greek and Wiradjuri woman who currently works as a student counsellor, and I’m passionate about helping students navigate their studies, no matter what life throws at them. With over a decade of experience in the human services industry, I’ve worked across international settings, as well as in the Northern Territory and South Australia. While much of my career has focused on counselling, crisis intervention, child and family support, mental health, AOD, and homelessness, I’m deeply interested in politics, human rights, social services, and advocating for the inclusion of First Nations perspectives in education and government systems.

What would your superpower be and why?
I’d love the power to instantly heal people from any pain—physical, psychological, or emotional. Healing others would bring so much joy, because seeing someone able to move forward without the burden of pain would be the most rewarding thing.

I am a researcher and Online Tutor at UniSA. I have worked in mental health research for the past 15 years. My main areas of research include addiction, psycho-oncology, eyewitness testimony, carers’ well-being, and sport psychology. In addition, I also work as a tutor and student assessor for several Psychology and Health topics, including Aboriginal Australians and Psychology, at UniSA. I find Psychology fascinating, and I enjoy helping students who are keen to learn about it. In my free time, I like to read, go to theatre, and attend live music events.

This would have to be one of the Positive Psychology leaders (e.g., Martin Selingman). I believe that focusing on our individual strengths and resources can build up our resilience and improve our overall wellbeing.

What was your dream job as a child?
As a child, I wanted to become a teacher! While my idea of what would be my dream job has been changing over the years, I guess I have come back to my original love of teaching and helping students to learn and improve.

Growing up in the Rocky Mountains USA, I spent my childhood hiking and cross-country skiing. This immersion in the natural world led me to study Environmental Science. Although I no longer encounter moose, elk and bears on my hikes, I am fascinated by the natural environments in SA.

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?
I would love the opportunity to live in Yellowstone. I would like to experience the change of seasons with the green and flowers of spring and the quiet stillness of snow in the winter. I would love to hear the wolves that have been reintroduced.

I’ve been an ATP tutor for over 10 years and have delivered over 15 topics in Math and Physics at UniSA. I enjoy teaching as it provides opportunities to learn new material and connect with students. Whether it's researching a topic connected to a student's interests or inquiries, or coming up with innovative ways to prepare something, it's all part of the journey.

My superpower is "Mind Move"(ref. Raising Dion), as I move myself with my mind, it also represents the unit of acceleration.

I am originally from Singapore and came to UniSA as an international student. Now I live in regional South Australia. I was an Academic with UniSA for about 15 years before working in the Heavy Industry, Consulting and Government sectors. I enjoy connecting with people, understanding their challenges and formulating a strategy to overcome it with them. My day job is working in the policy sphere; always in awe of the complexities that transpires in the moving cogs that simply put, makes the world go round!

Before commencing my PhD, I worked as an Assistant Lecturer in Environmental Studies, Geography, and Planning at Maasai Mara University in Kenya. I am passionate about teaching, mentoring students, and connecting research to real-world community challenges.

What was your dream job as a child?
Growing up, I wanted to become a doctor to help people with terminal illnesses. I was inspired by the idea of saving lives and supporting people in their most difficult moments. Although my path changed, my purpose stayed the same. Today I help in a different way by working toward healthier environments, sustainable cities, and stronger communities.

My first experience tutoring was helping my best friend with maths in high school. That was not formal, but I remember spending the whole weekend trying to help her finish this one packet. Time has passed since then, but some things never change. I love being able to help students understand content and what to do, but also even more, what they are capable of. I have had amazing people in my life who have believed in me, and that belief has gotten me where I am, so I love to be able to pay it forward.

At home, I have a little brushtail possum who lights up my life, so when I’m not with students or working on my novel, I’m often out finding him delicious leaves to eat.

What was your dream job as a child?
I have always wanted to be an author, from when I first stapled a few pieces of paper together and wrote my first book at five years old. I’ve been writing ever since, and now finally working on my first novel, so hopefully dreams will come true!

Helping students develop their own approach to music - whether that’s performing, creating, or building confidence, is a big part of what I enjoy about teaching. I aim to create a relaxed, supportive environment where people feel comfortable learning at their own pace and exploring new ideas.

I have a background in both music and engineering and have been working for almost 15 years in the music industry, performing at major festivals, weddings, pubs, and corporate events. Alongside this, I’ve spent years teaching in schools and working privately with students across a range of instruments and skill levels.

Outside of teaching, I spend most of my time making music, collaborating with others, and exploring new ideas in sound and production.

Originally from Canada, I’ve been lucky to travel and research all over the world! My passion is with all animals, and I’m working towards my DVM, hoping to spend my life making a positive difference for the Earth’s creatures. When I’m not studying, I’m an avid photographer, writer and traveller!

While working towards my DVM, I’m a demonstrator for several Adelaide University Veterinary Bioscience courses. I’ve found I love teaching and helping students, and enjoy finding new ways to support my peers. My tutoring focuses on veterinary anatomy and physiology, with scope to cover other animal-related courses. I’m always keen to meet new people and make meaningful connections.

I was born and raised in Whyalla, and although I left for a short time for University I returned to this great place. I initially pursued a passion in journalism straight out of school, but after my husband and I started a family I went back to University to study Teaching. I love teaching and being part of helping people (adults and children) recognise their full potential in everything they do. My other passion is sport, especially basketball!

If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Roast lamb and vegetables with gravy. There is nothing better than a good roast!

I am based in Whyalla, where I have been for three years, teaching into the pathway programs and working as a Research Assistant at UniSA. Previously I taught courses in Film, Creative Writing and Literature at the University of Adelaide, where I also worked as a Learning Adviser, supporting students across a range of disciplines to achieve their learning goals.

My own university pathway wasn’t straightforward, and I enjoy connecting with students to help them navigate their way through a system I found at times to be confusing and intimidating. I also love reading, writing fiction, gardening, horror movies, and my cats (all animals, really). I’m crazy about my step-son and nieces and nephews.

Purely selfish and completely impossible, but I would love to have my grandma on my dad’s side. She was Dad’s hero, and I’ve heard so many stories about her: she sounds like a real character, kind, fun, strong, generous. I’m sad I never got to meet her and have so many questions.

I am a Clinical Nurse and have spent many of my 25 years of my nursing profession as clinical educator, program facilitator and lecturer, student support tutor and mentor, and in haemodialysis. I come from an extensive academic Indigenous family network who are the Larrakia people of Darwin in the Northern Territory. I have worked with the program on and off over the past six years. In my early career, I spent time working as a field ranger and community education ranger in the Top End, Northern Territory but found that to have a bigger impact in environmental education would mean to embed more deeply into a school setting. I subsequently spent twenty years teaching in mainstream and remote settings in NT & SA. I have found great joy and fulfilment to blend two careers in natural resources and education in primary, secondary and tertiary sectors, and most of all, I enjoy the connection that students (and myself) make of theory to real world learning and work. Supporting students to explore and believe in their capability is a privilege.

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be?
Italy, but I have never visited! I imagine the food and exploring the country could be fun!
