Course overview
This course enhances students understanding of construction systems and materials and their application in multi-storey construction. The course aims to equip students with an understanding of the integration of common structural, construction, core, servicing, environmental and transport systems. The course will cover the relationship between the design and construction of buildings of increased complexity, including the selection and integration of structure, services and facade. Students will be introduced to legislative and technical requirements which apply in the design of medium to large scale buildings, including the National Construction Code of Australia. Students will demonstrate an ability to translate and synthesise information into a design response, and to apply their knowledge of user requirements, technologies, systems and materials in multi-storey construction.

- Analyse and evaluate structural and services systems, regulatory contexts, and programmatic requirements in the design of multi-storey buildings.
- Identify and integrate spatial, structural, construction, and services systems within multi-storey buildings to a defined brief.
- Develop integrated spatial, structural, transportation, services and layouts multi-storey buildings.
- Communicate structural and services systems using appropriate disciplinary techniques and methods.
