Course overview
This course enables student learners to develop an architectural proposition in response to specific topics, themes, or questions framed in the course. Drawing on prior learning in preceding architectural design studios, students establish and apply design research methods, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, integrate ethical considerations, and engage in critical reflective practice. The course emphasises speculative responses to socio-cultural and environmental challenges that are informed by global perspectives and contextual responses to address the diversity human needs and aspirations. Learners gain exposure to industry professionals, working individually and collaboratively to prepare them for contemporary practice. Students will demonstrate their mastery in the discipline, provide evidence of their creative thinking and capacity to innovate.

Course learning outcomes
- Apply disciplinary knowledge and skills to communicate design concepts through integrated use of analogue and digital graphic media, verbal presentations, and written documentation.
- Evaluate and integrate Country, historical, cultural, social, economic, and environmental factors into architectural design decision-making processes.
- Combine creative practice methods, critical analysis, and design judgment to develop architectural projects that integrate speculative and practical knowledge.
- Select specialised materials and constructions systems to develop, integrate and communicate feasible fabrication strategies for architectural projects.
- Assess and address the social, ethical, and environmental implications of architectural design decisions on communities and built environments.
- Plan, coordinate, and complete architectural design projects demonstrating autonomous work practices and collaborative skills appropriate to professional practice.
