Course learning outcomes

  • Critically analyse and synthesise project performance requirements in response to complex user needs, site constraints, and advanced material performance criteria.
  • Evaluate and justify design propositions through iterative testing and optimisation, demonstrating an advanced, research-informed approach to developing project responses to defined and emergent briefs.
  • Select, apply, and critically evaluate (1) fabrication methods and construction systems on site through risk-informed safety and quality processes, and (2) evidence-based material strategies that demonstrably improve project outcomes in response to complex contextual, regulatory, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Work collaboratively to plan, document, and contribute to the delivery of a design and/or on-site fabrication outcome demonstrating clear communication, project management, and reflective professional judgement.
  • Deliver a resolved and well-executed design–construct outcome by critically integrating site conditions, material and system performance requirements, and fabrication/assembly methods, and by evaluating and justifying design and construction decisions in response to complex contextual, regulatory, and stakeholder constraints.
