Course overview

This course introduces the concept of life-of-asset sustainability and develops skills and practical tools that can be implemented from resource project concept through to asset closure to support sustainable outcomes. The course builds on concepts presented in Exploration and Resource Development 1: Geology and Geochemistry and Social License to Operate, with a focus on the measurement, monitoring and management of environmental, operational and cultural heritage factors across the life cycle of a resource asset. Student investigation of case studies illustrates the importance of gathering ESG-relevant baseline data from the earliest stages of exploration through to product delivery and asset closure.
