Course overview

The aim of this course is for pre-service teachers to engage with relevant contemporary theory, practices, and curricula for Arts education in secondary schooling, including reference to a range of approaches to address diversity and inclusion. Learning in this course is sequential and scaffolded, building from Arts for Secondary Teaching 1. The course also includes a focus on Drama-Based Pedagogy (DBP) and Creative Body-Based Learning (CBL) teaching strategies.

Course learning outcomes

  • Curate a range of arts and education resources appropriate for an inclusive pedagogical practice
  • Create a unit of work to demonstrate practical and theoretical understanding of inclusive practice, as well as a range of teaching strategies and strategies for differentiation and inclusion
  • Analyse and evaluate their planning in relation to themes of diversity and inclusive practices
  • Plan for and implement effective teaching and learning including a range of diverse teaching strategies
