Course overview
The aim of this course is to further advance the understanding and appreciation of operating large transport category jet aircraft using a state-of-the-art Boeing 737 or Airbus 320 based simulation platform located in the Adelaide University, Mawson Lakes Campus, “Flight Deck” Building.
Throughout this course, students will be paired up as a crew and develop a comprehensive introduction to the non-normal aircraft operation through hands-on practicals in our flight simulator. The course continues to develop students’ technical and non-technical skills while operating a multi-crew aircraft as a Pilot Flying (PF) and a Pilot Monitoring (PM) in non-normal flight scenarios, gaining important team skills needed to work effectively on a modern-day flight deck.
Course learning outcomes
- Apply the body of aeronautical knowledge to the safe operation of a large jet aircraft used in regular public transport
- Exercise superior Crew Resource Management (CRM) as part of a multi-crew cockpit environment
- Develop flight planning as part of professional-level flight operations
- Appraise non-normal scenarios and apply appropriate procedures while maintaining a high level of situational awareness and sound decision-making.
