Course overview

The course provides a combination of course work and industry placement. The aim of the course is for the students to apply their animal behaviour discipline knowledge and research skills, as well as develop industry experience. In addition to expert subject knowledge, the course supports students in developing and improving critical thinking and problem-solving skills using scientific methods as well as developing communication skills.

Course learning outcomes

  • Design a research project drawing on experimental design principles and animal behaviour knowledge.
  • Apply data collection and analysis skills to conduct a research project investigating an animal behaviour topic.
  • Communicate research findings, e.g. through written report, in line current professional standards.
  • Critically reflect on and evaluate the animal behaviour workplace experience and their contribution to future employment.
  • Evaluate personal abilities, knowledge and skills and their contribution to employability in the area of animal behaviour.
