Course overview

This course will develop students' knowledge of materials and technologies required for the design, detailing, documentation, and fabrication of buildings of varying scales and complexities for a specific site or sites.

Course learning outcomes

  • Identify and interpret project performance requirements in response to site conditions, project phase, material considerations and user needs
  • Apply design knowledge and skills to develop appropriate project responses to defined briefs
  • Demonstrate foundational understanding of fabrication methods and systems by applying safe on site processes and material knowledge during project development
  • Work collaboratively to plan, document, and contribute to the delivery of a design and/or on site fabrication outcome
  • Produce a coherent and well-executed project output that reflects an applied understanding of site conditions, materials, performance requirements, and fabrication methods
