Course overview
This course provides an introduction to the world of the ancient Mediterranean, especially Greek and Roman cultures, while developing skills in critical thinking, archaeological and historical source analysis and communication. Using major chronological and cultural moments of Greek and Roman history, it touches upon the Bronze Age before exploring in more depth the Archaic and Classical periods of Greece and the Roman Republic, then moving onto the Roman Empire and later periods of the Classical Mediterranean. You will learn about major social and political characters from these periods, significant archaeological discoveries and historical moments, and important towns and regions.
