Course overview
This course aims to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the foundational research methods and measurement of human-computer interaction (HCI). It covers core concepts, principles, and methodologies, including user-centred design, usability evaluation, and interface prototyping. Students will learn how to apply these concepts to design effective user interfaces, enhance user experiences, and consider the ethical implications of design practices and products.
- Intro, Understanding People
- User Research and Experiment Design
- Theory of Interaction
Course learning outcomes
- Explain core HCI concepts and human factors in system design and evaluation.
- Apply HCI theories and models to analyze and inform system and interface design.
- Design and implement interactive prototypes to demonstrate HCI principles.
- Evaluate user research methods to select appropriate approaches for studying HCI.
- Assess ethical, cultural, and societal issues in HCI
