Course overview
This course introduces fundamental microeconomic and macroeconomic principles, enabling students to analyse economic decisions made by individuals, firms, and governments. Students will learn about supply and demand, market structures, GDP, inflation, unemployment, and the impact of government policies. This understanding will equip students with valuable analytical skills applicable to various fields and contribute to their ability to assess economic issues and policies critically.

Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of core economic concepts, tools and models
- Apply economic concepts to real world scenarios and use that analysis to make informed judgements and decisions
- Interpret, analyse and depict economic information in diagrams, tables and graphs
- Communicate economic knowledge, ideas and analysis, to diverse audiences including professionals and non-experts
- Reflect on the nature and implications of assumptions and value judgements in economic analysis and policy
