International Trade and Investment Policy

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to international economics with a focus on trade theory, trade policy, and international finance and investment. It introduces the theoretical foundations of why nations trade, the instruments and political economy of trade policy, and the principles of international finance and investment including exchange rate determination, capital flows, and foreign direct investment. It aims to equip students with the analytical tools to evaluate the forces driving globalisation, assess who benefits and who is disadvantaged, and examine the role of government policy in shaping outcomes for workers, consumers, firms, and policymakers in Australia and the global economy.
