Course overview
This course deepens the critical thinking and practical reasoning of economics in modelling and evaluating the role of the public sector in the economy, why government intervention is needed, how it influences the choices of the private sector and the welfare effects of such influences. It also investigates and integrates models of political economy, which regard actions of the public sector as determined by political processes. Topics covered include welfare economics, market failures, and political economy.
