This course aims to provide students with foundational knowledge of arts education - its history, theories, and practices - pertinent to their future roles as secondary arts educators in dance, drama, media arts, music, visual arts, and creative arts.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply understanding of dance, drama, media arts, music, visual arts, and creative arts subject knowledge in middle years learning contexts
  • Apply understanding of Arts pedagogy and content when implementing arts learning experiences for young people
  • Plan and document authentic arts education learning sequences in relation to middle years curriculum frameworks
  • Select and use a range of resources for planning, teaching, and learning in the Arts
  • Critically reflect on and evaluation Arts practice and pedagogy as pre-service Arts Educators

  • Must have completed at least two discipline courses AND if undertaking HTSEC Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary) (Honours) THEN must have completed EDUC1902 Professional Experience 1: Professional Identity and the Role of the Teacher
