Course overview

To develop conceptual and foundational content knowledge in HASS: Civics and Citizenship and HASS: Economics and Business, examining contemporary issues and connections across all four HASS substrands. Pre-service teachers will apply personal and global lenses to explore how these disciplines connect to History and Geography within the Australian Curriculum Foundation to Year 6.


Course learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate the connections between HASS: Civics and Citizenship and HASS: Economics and Business with History and Geography
  • Apply pedagogical content knowledge to the teaching of HASS: Civics and Citizenship and HASS: Economics and Business, including out-of-school activities.
  • Integrate Civics and Citizenship and Economics and Business into the teaching of History and Geography through content knowledge, concepts, skills, and achievement standards
