Course overview
The aim of this course is to prepare students for teaching in early childhood settings by exploring key early childhood pedagogical practices as informed by key policy, theory, and research. This course is organised in three modules that explore (1) Introduction to curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment in the early years, (2) Explores key early childhood pedagogies and (3) Examines everyday pedagogical choices. This course strongly aligns with the EYLF and ACECQA requirements for early childhood education.

Course learning outcomes
- Connect key aspects of the EYLF planning cycle to pedagogical practices
- Critically reflect on and implement effective planning and teaching strategies within early childhood settings
- Identify core components of creating a positive learning environment for all learners through guiding behaviour and engaging young learners
- Apply theoretical knowledge of engaging young learners and guiding behaviour in positive learning environments
- Explore, implement and analyse alternative pedagogies that are core to early childhood education
