Course overview
This course will introduce students to construction engineering. The content of the course includes project delivery methods, first principles estimating, cost planning and scheduling, contracts and specifications. This course will feature guest speakers from the construction industry and will also visit a construction site, which will form the basis of the major project that underpins this course. The ability to read and interpret drawings is a key learning outcome of this course. Students will also be introduced to methods of construction associated with earthworks, concrete and steel.
