Course overview

To study the design, analysis and implementation of digital communications. The course will provide students with basic knowledge to design end-to-end digital wireless transceiver and implement of communication systems in software defined radio.

Course learning outcomes

  • Appraise the building blocks of digital wireless transceivers to understand design and implementation approaches
  • Comprehend, compare and contrast relevant algorithms and technologies to understand rationale behind current standards
  • Analyse and design of key communication signal processing blocks with focus on error control and multiple access
  • Evaluate communication systems with computer simulations and SDR implementation
