Course overview
The aim of this course is to support learners as they transition from academic study into professional engineering practice. The course prepares learners to identify, source, and commence an appropriate industry placement, reflect on their readiness for professional work, and develop a practical understanding of workplace expectations. Through evaluation of engineering career pathways and targeted job application preparation, learners build the capability to secure and begin an industry placement, apply for graduate roles, and prepare for future career transitions. The course also develops learners’ understanding of organisational roles, structures, and culture, and supports critical reflection on how workplace practices, including safety, ethics, diversity, inclusivity, and First Nations perspectives, shape professional engineering practice and their development as emerging engineers.
