  • Reactor Physics
  • Reactor Dynamics and Technology
  • Nuclear Safety and Society

Course learning outcomes

  • Compare nuclear-powered submarines and different design philosophies relevant to the AUKUS context
  • Analyse the theory and operational integration of naval reactor systems within the submarine platform
  • Describe nuclear and reactor safety aspects required in a naval nuclear propulsion enterprise.
  • Apply structured design methods to analyse and develop a nuclear-powered submarine concept design.
  • Analyse submarine reactor performance using quantitative methods to model key operational parameters.
  • Evaluate the unique facility capabilities and aspects required to steward nuclear-powered submarines within Australian naval shipyards.
