Course overview
This course aims to equip students with advanced knowledge and skills on the theory and application of model-based complex systems engineering. Building upon fundamentals of systems engineering knowledge introduced earlier, the course delves into structured systems engineering methodologies. By applying this knowledge, students will develop critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills through group projects and case studies to understand and manage system design and evolution in modern engineering systems. This course aligns with the program's intent to provide a comprehensive understanding, and practice, of model-based complex system engineering techniques and their applications.
- MBSE fundamentals
- Applying MBSE through the lifecycle
- MBSE for analysis and implementation
Course learning outcomes
- Understand and identify appropriate systems engineering modelling approaches, languages, and tools, for different system design contexts
- Develop system models in selected SysML MBSE tools
- Apply a systems engineering modelling approach to a systems design problem
