Course overview
This course will introduce students to the evolving discipline of human movement, exercise and sport science including its academic subdisciplines and how these relate to a range of professional roles, responsibilities and requirements. Introduction to the human movement, exercise and sport science academic subdisciplines including exercise physiology, motor behaviour, sport and exercise psychology, and biomechanics. Evaluation of personal values and beliefs, and exploration of the current state of health, fitness, exercise and sport related industries, professions and professional qualification schemes (Australia and internationally) to guide the design of a comprehensive professional development plan
Course learning outcomes
- Identify the core responsibilities and requirements of human movement, exercise and sport science professions.
- Develop foundational knowledge related to human movement, exercise and sport science subdisciplines and apply it in practically relevant contexts.
- Evaluate self-interests, values and competencies and align to a prospective career within the human movement, health, and sport and exercise science industries to commence career development.
