Course overview
This course provides students with the opportunity to get hands-on work experience in the clinical trial industry, and is for students who wish to work in clinical trials. Students are offered placements from a range of offerings which include government and non-government agencies including trial sites, ethics committees, and contract research organizations. Students are expected to develop work-ready skills and to manage their own learning in diverse clinical trial environments. During the course students will gain experience in a clinical trial environment whilst applying their research, problem solving, teamwork, communication, and critical reflection skills.
Students need to be enrolled in the Clinical Trial major and hold a GPA>5.5.
Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate an understanding of planning and implementation of outcomes related to the activities being pursued for the placement
- Demonstrate the application of selected professional competencies aligned to the learning environment
- Locate, critically evaluate and synthesise relevant evidence from multiple sources in a planned and timely manner for the placement
- Demonstrate professional behaviour and work effectively in teams through involvement in the day-to-day functioning of the learning environment
- Demonstrate awareness of ethical and cultural considerations in a workplace
- Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills
