Course overview

This course introduces students to real-world cyber security challenges faced by organisations. Students will apply cyber and computing knowledge and skills gained in previous courses to address these challenges in complex situations, producing advanced solutions. By merging theoretical understanding with practical application, students develop advanced strategies to mitigate cyber threats, safeguard sensitive information, and fortify organisational resilience in the face of evolving cyber risks.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply knowledge of operating systems, networking, and cybersecurity principles to perform security testing and implement solutions for real-world cybersecurity challenges.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of cybersecurity solutions and controls using appropriate assessment techniques.
  • Analyse systems and applications to identify and assess cybersecurity vulnerabilities, threats, and risks.
  • Communicate cybersecurity findings and ethical, legal, and professional considerations
