Course overview

This course is designed to follow Modern Greek 2A, for learners at a post-introductory level. It will extend learners’ proficiency in spoken and written Greek, and expand their intercultural knowledge of Greek language and culture, and the influence of Greek and Greek traditions globally, through engagement with contemporary topics and concepts relevant to learners, explored through multimodal interactive content.

  • Sustainability, identity and growth: Reflections on contemporary issues, communities and self

Course learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate post-introductory level skills in speaking and writing Greek in increasingly complexity
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of grammatical and sociolinguistic concepts and topics covered in the course
  • Comprehend meaning and respond effectively to diverse text types, with increasingly complex and culturally appropriate language
  • Evaluate and reflect critically on contemporary Greek language, culture and social themes presented in the course
  • Demonstrate awareness of cultural similarities and differences between Greek and other languages and cultures, reflecting on self as a user of Greek language in social contexts and in a global world.

Prerequisite(s)

  • Must have completed all of LANG1702 Modern Greek 1A/LANG2701 Intermediate Modern Greek Part 2/LANG2702 Modern Greek 2A OR must have completed 1 of LANG2702 Modern Greek 2A/SACE Year 12 Modern Greek or equivalent language proficiency
