Course learning outcomes

  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment and document a plan of care for a patient/ client in consultation with individuals/ groups, significant others and the interprofessional healthcare team
  • Implement safe and effective evidence-based nursing care to achieve identified individual/group health outcomes
  • Evaluate and revise a plan of care to meet continuing needs of an individual/groups
  • Demonstrate appropriate communication strategies to promote an optimal physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual environment for individuals/groups
  • Apply analytical skills in accessing health information and research evidence in the provision of person-centred nursing care
  • Demonstrate responsibility to contribute to the professional development of self and others and evaluate own nursing practice in accordance with professional standards, legal and ethical policies and codes of practice and revise where appropriate

  • Must have completed all of BIOL1001 Human Biology 1/BIOL1002 Human Biology 2/NURS1000 Becoming a Nursing Professional/NURS1001 Aboriginal Health/NURS1002 Health of Older People/NURS1003 Social and Political Determinants of Health/NURS1901 Professional Experience Placement 1/NURS1902 Professional Experience Placement 2

Corequisite(s)

  • If the following courses have not already been completed THEN must be enrolled in all of NURS2001 Health of Adults/NURS2002 Scientific Basis of Nursing Practice
