Course overview
Students will develop their advanced competency and clinical leadership capability in the nurse practitioner role. Content in this field-based course is determined by the student’s specialty context of practice and learning objectives. Students will consolidate their advanced, extended scope of clinical practice and leadership capability and demonstrate achievement of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Nurse Practitioner Standards for Practice.
Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate autonomy and accountability for extended practice in providing competent client-focused care within a nursing model of practice
- Apply knowledge and skills appropriate to an expanded scope of practice in complex and unpredictable environments
- Transfer knowledge and skills appropriate to an expanded scope of practice to unfamiliar environments and situations
- Demonstrate reflective practice, creative and proactive strategies to enhance the expanded scope of clinical services provided by the nurse practitioner to improve client outcomes
- Demonstrate achievement of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Nurse Practitioner Standards for Practice
- Demonstrate clinical leadership and the ability to influence and progress clinical care, policy and collaboration through all levels of a health service
- Demonstrate advanced communication and appropriate interprofessional collaboration in the provision of clinical/client services
