Course overview
Students will demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in holistic health assessment, differential diagnosis and initiation of client treatment plans relevant to the advanced practice nurse or Nurse Practitioner Scope of Practice.
Course learning outcomes
- Critically evaluate assessment frameworks relevant to the advance practice nurse or nurse practitioner client context, role, and scope of practice.
- Demonstrate advanced holistic client centred assessment relevant to the student's context and scope of practice using best available evidence.
- Demonstrate judicious decision making and/or appropriate consultation in support of holistic client centred assessment which may include selections of document investigations according to scope of practice.
- Synthesise and interpret assessment data from a variety of sources to formulate accurate client documents in predictable and unpredictable situations to inform comprehensive, culturally appropriate client treatment plans autonomously (NPs) or in partnership with authorised health professionals.
- Recognise when client health situations are outside of the scope of practice and refer to other health professionals to ensure the best possible client health outcomes.
