Course overview
To provide knowledge of the normal function of the human body and the ways in which the bodily systems integrate with each other to regulate nutrients.
- Endocrine and control systems
- Digestive system
- Renal Physiology
- Cardiorespiratory physiology
Course learning outcomes
- Display an integrated knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles of homeostasis and the maintenance of nutritional health
- Recognise and describe the main components of the endocrine, digestive, renal, cardiorespiratory systems and how they contribute to nutrient homeostasis
- Apply knowledge of physiological systems and their control to develop understanding of select real-life health and medical situations associated with nutrition
- Describe contemporary research approaches and techniques used to advance physiological knowledge
- Gather, analyse and evaluate data relevant to physiological concepts and systems using appropriate methods
