Course overview

This course examines key concepts in vaccinology. Learners will explore the history of vaccines, key targets for vaccine design, the immune response to vaccines, and the use of animal models to determine these responses to new-generation vaccines, while appreciating the regulation of vaccine production, quality control, and assessment of efficacy. Learners will also discuss emerging challenges such as vaccine hesitancy. The application of the vaccine development process will impact future advances in global health. Completing this course enables students to progress to program-applied skills courses and research projects.

  • Vaccine Immunology
  • Vaccine Design and Development
  • Production, Trials, Delivery, and Challenges

Course learning outcomes

  • Identify and convey the global burden of infectious diseases and outline its impact and future implications on world health.
