Course overview

This course provides a background in physics knowledge and skills in the areas of mechanics, electricity, magnetism, waves, and modern physics at a pre-university level to enable further study in physics and physics allied disciplines.

A practical program will introduce students to experimental skills, record-keeping and fundamentals of observations, measurements and analysis in physics.

Course learning outcomes

  • Use the fundamental laws, principles, and concepts in physics to describe, explain and predict the qualitative behaviour of simple physical systems.

  • Apply standard measurement and data analysis techniques when conducting experimental work.
  • Document and explain experimental work, including any conclusions drawn.
