Course overview
The aim of this course is to provide students with foundational knowledge regarding health psychology, lifespan development, and clinical psychology and psychopathology, particularly as applied to health behaviours, mental health and mental well-being, and the ways in which these are interconnected. Through this course students will develop their mental health literacy and the capacity to apply evidence-based strategies for managing stress, fostering resilience, and enhancing physical health and psychological well-being to their own lives. Students will also explore their personal values, interests and strengths and how these relate to psychology values and ethics and potential career pathways applying psychological science.

Course learning outcomes
- Explain how biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors are interrelated to influence health and wellbeing
- Identify key concepts and theories of human development across the lifespan and the role of context and culture
- Apply evidence-based strategies for enhancing personal health and wellbeing
- Recognise common psychological disorders and understand wellbeing and mental health problems
- Identify personal values and strengths and their alignment with psychology values, potential career pathways
- Engage with psychological research through active participation or by completing tasks related to research processes and methodologies
