Course overview
The aim of this course is to support the student to develop a sound research proposal for an independent honours research project. Research principles and methodology including research questions, literature review and critique, sampling procedures and selection, qualitative and quantitative designs, variables, threats to reliability and validity, outcome measures and the role of ethics in research.
Course learning outcomes
- Identify research gaps and justify research plans using advanced search skills, critical appraisal, and synthesis of research evidence.
- Formulate specific, clear and relevant research questions aligned to the research field.
- Develop a research project plan using advanced research knowledge and skills.
- Communicate and apply knowledge of research methods, outcomes and quality control principles when planning research.
- Integrate principles of research integrity, ethical conduct and academic integrity when planning research.
- Coherently and effectively communicate research plans in written and oral formats.
