Course overview
This course aims to enable students to critically explore human behaviour as it relates to conservation and barriers to environmentally responsibly behaviours.Using a psychological perspective, students will evaluate strategies to facilitate behaviour change in support of conservation of the natural environment.

- Explain key psychological principles of advertising and persuasion, core principles of behaviour change, and ethical considerations relevant to their application in conservation and marketing contexts
- Analyse contemporary marketing materials and conservation initiatives to determine how psychological principles are applied to influence human behaviours.
- Interpret and evaluate behaviour data using appropriate measurement approaches and analytical concepts relevant to conservation behaviour change.
- Critically evaluates current conservation research to identify a threat or problem relevant to the conservation of a species or environment that may be addressed through ethical human behaviour change.
- Design a conservation strategy centred on a specific human behaviour that demonstrates understanding in persuasive communication, psychological principles, and community based social marketing
