Course overview

The aim of this course is to further develop theoretical and practical skills in Geospatial Science while focusing on designing, creating, publishing and evaluation of user-centric or purpose-oriented interactive web mapping applications. This course is designed for students to enhance their acquired knowledge to analyse and communicate geospatial information effectively and efficiently through a web browser. Students will gain skills in internet map creation, cartographic web map design, and communication with online maps. Ultimately, this course aims to develop the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems and to create and communicate insight into complex spatial data which aligns with key demands in scientific careers, equipping graduates to address real-world challenges effectively and to excel in various scientific sectors.

  • System architectures
  • Design principles
  • Web map production
  • Evaluation and distribution
