Course overview
Students will progress an independent research project in their Science major under academic supervision, following completion of Honours Science Project 1 or Honours Science Project 1A. The course aims to develop specialised knowledge and capabilities for independent scientific research.
Course learning outcomes
- Develop a research plan, based on analysis of scientific literature demonstrating a detailed physical understanding of an advanced topic in the chosen Science major.
- Design, implement, and document scientific research to test hypotheses or develop new insights, maintaining accurate records and a robust data management plan.
- Use specialised analytical, interpretation and evaluation skills and techniques necessary to carry out research in an advanced topic in the chosen Science major.
- Effectively present scientific research findings in both written and oral forms, tailoring communication to both specialist and general audiences.
- Understand and apply ethical principles and regulatory requirements relevant to the chosen Science major, and professional standards essential for conducting responsible scientific research.
