Course overview
To develop students' knowledge and skills for engaging in ethical and effective intrapersonal and interpersonal professional communication in social work and human services. Students will develop an understanding of the self in communication and knowledge of the influence of diversity, power, gender, culture, reflection and values on communication. Students will developskills in the use of diverse communications modes (verbal, non verbal, written, and electronic including the ethical considerations of engaging with Artificial Intelligence ) for professional social work and the human services communication, includingwhen working in teams.

- Articulate the essential components of professional social work and human service communication skills
- Communicate with integrity and acknowledge personal responsibility for own actions
- Explore the differences between personal and professional communication processes in order to communicate effectively across diverse professional contexts
- Demonstrate communication skills including feedback, assertion, listening and responding, managing difference, managing conflict, negotiation, ethical communication, and leadership.
