Course overview
This course will enable the students to critically analyse situations for social work and human service intervention and select appropriate practice approaches that reflect knowledge of core values, ethics and practice principles. Students will further develop knowledge of professional and accountable generalist practice using ethical and cultural competence. Students will critically analyse various practice perspectives including strengths and ecosystems perspectives, principles and theories, crisis intervention, grief and loss; intervention frameworks and empowerment-based practice process. The application, of these practice perspectives will be critiqued through data collection and record keeping, assessment, formulating and implementing intervention strategies, and using evaluation strategies.
