Course overview
The aim of this course is to develop the organisational leadership skills required to effectively practice as a social work professional in a diverse range of professional contexts. Students will develop skills and knowledge in negotiating to achieve professional outcomes, inter-professional social work, working collegially in culturally diverse contexts, staff, staff with lived experience and volunteer management, managing adverse events, assuring service quality in project management, grant and tender writing, macro level lobbying and advocacy, communications planning and using and managing the media.
Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate competencies in negotiating to achieve professional outcomes in interprofessional and culturally diverse workplace contexts
- Critically appraise a range of organisational accountability situations and demonstrate the professional skills required in these situations
- Construct and deliver performance enhancing feedback to volunteers or staff
- Critically analyse current political and practice contexts to generate, and manage change within communities, organisations and groups through pursuing program funding and public communication
