Course overview
This course will enable students to develop specialised social work practice skills in a practice setting. Students will undertake supervised placement where they will develop specialised practice skills through the application of theory to a particular practice context. Students will utilise their skills as a reflexive practitioner to develop cognitive and technical skills in ethical reflection and decision making, professional relationship building, social work supervision and client engagement, intervention planning, implementation and evaluation. Students will examine the notion of social work as an agent of change at the individual and broader systemic level.

- Demonstrate beginning competence in professional behaviour, including respect for others in the workplace, emotional regulation, and the ability to respond to constructive feedback

- Demonstrate beginning competence to engage with clients and stakeholders in theory-informed interventions that serve the interests of the client or stakeholder
- Demonstrate beginning competence to develop, implement and critically reflect upon an intervention plan
- Demonstrate beginning skills to work collaboratively and inter-professionally within and across organisational boundaries on behalf of clients to achieve social change
