Course overview
This subject introduces veterinary professionals to the foundational knowledge required to support consult nursing in the context of preventative health care. With a focus on the healthy patient, students will develop an understanding of the Veterinary Technologists role within routine consultations and build confidence in performing fundamental nursing tasks. Core concepts in nutrition, parasitology and immunology are explored to support evidence-based decision-making and proactive health management. Through practical workshops and simulated scenarios, students will develop their ability to communicate effectively with clients, gather relevant information and provide clear, appropriate health recommendations. Emphasis is placed on collaboration within the veterinary healthcare team, recognising the importance of coordinated care.
