Course overview
This course will introduce several fine art studio workshops, with a focus on disciplines that are traditionally three-dimensional in format. Alongside reviews of historical and contemporary practice, students will learn about fundamental techniques, materials, and technologies (both digital and analogue) used in disciplines including Ceramics, Glass, and Jewellery/Metal. Students will be encouraged to experiment with the use of materials and processes in the development and creation of original artworks. By the end of the course, students will have gained practical experience of applying the processes, materials, and concepts employed in these fields. The skills and approaches introduced here will provide foundational knowledge for more advanced courses.

Course learning outcomes
- Apply a variety of media, techniques and processes from each studio area to produce a series of contemporary artworks
- Demonstrate use of both digital and analogue techniques at an intermediate level in the creation of artworks
- Apply experimentation and innovative use of materials and processes in the creation of artworks
- Identity relevant contexts and relationships regarding historical and contemporary art practice
- Critically evaluate creative outcomes in relation to the broader field of contemporary art practice
