Course overview

Specialisation 1 (Fine Arts) provides students with conceptual and technical skills specific to chosen studio disciplines and builds knowledge of their histories, theories, contemporary art practices, and interdisciplinary applications for the development of resolved bodies of work.

  • Familiarisation 
  • Studio practice and practice-based research
  • Resolution and presentation of an artwork in response to a provocation

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply conceptual and technical skills to the development of resolved bodies of work.
  • Apply knowledge of relevant artists, theories, and historical and contemporary art practices for the contextualisation and development of ideas and artworks
  • Develop and document the acquisition of skills and knowledge through scheduled activities and independent practice-based research and experimentation.
  • Adhere to appropriate WHS guidelines and share collective responsibility for the care and maintenance of studios, equipment and facilities.
  • Accept and respond constructively to feedback and contribute to the critique of other students’ work.
  • Present and install artworks with regard for the context of space, audiences, and other technical, curatorial and conceptual considerations
