FirstGEN Program

Adelaide University

Support for students transitioning from secondary school to higher education

Adelaide University’s FirstGEN Program was developed to provide targeted support for students who identify as the first in their family to attend university. The FirstGEN Program seeks to address knowledge gaps often experienced by students from low socio-economic backgrounds and families without prior university experience. To maximise impact, the program focuses on partnering with schools where university participation rates are typically lower to support students who face additional barriers to higher education.

The FirstGEN Program offers students:

  • Gain essential university knowledge and prepare for life after secondary school
  • Interactive workshops tailored to meet student needs
  • Opportunities to develop their understanding of the SATAC application process
  • Financial support for their SATAC application fees
