Returning to Study
If you have taken a break from your studies at the University and would like to resume, please read the following information carefully before submitting a Readmission Application Form.
You can apply for readmission if you:
- were previously enrolled in course/s under an Undergraduate (UG) or Postgraduate Coursework (PGCW) program and wish to return after a period of unapproved absence;
- have discontinued your program and now want to resume your studies.
You are not eligible to apply using this form if you:
- are an international student
- Submit a new admission application
- are on a current approved Leave of Absence (LOA)
- Contact your Faculty about returning to study
- Ask ADEL: How do I defer or take a leave of absence?
- were excluded from the University
- You must wait until your exclusion period has elapsed and then reapply for admission via appropriate admissions service:
- Domestic applicants: SATAC
- International applicants: International Application System
- See clause 8.d of Academic Progress by Coursework Students

- were admitted but never enrolled
- You will need to apply for admission via appropriate admissions service

Applications should be submitted well ahead of and no later than 4 weeks prior to classes starting for the teaching period in which you wish to resume your study. Teaching period dates can be found at Important University Dates, and information about enrolment (including relevant dates) can be found at University Enrolment.
You should check the following before you complete the application form:
- are you eligible to apply via this process?
- Check ‘Who can apply for readmission’ above.
- has your residency status changed since you were last enrolled?
- If so, you will need to update your Citizenship or Residency Status with the University before lodging your application for readmission to your program.
- your student details from when you were last enrolled (if known):
- Your student ID number
- Your contact details at the time
- will you be able to complete within your program’s allowable time?
- Check the Coursework Academic Programs Policy for the allowable time that applies to you
- If you won’t finish, you’ll have the opportunity to provide context for your request (e.g. extenuating circumstances).
- do you have any relevant documents to support your application (e.g. to support extenuating circumstances)?
- If so, be sure to have them ready to upload as PDFs.
