The Márta Svéd Scholarship has been established by School of Mathematical Sciences to support three female undergraduate students who are looking to undertake a Bachelor of Mathematics program of study at Adelaide University.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to Adelaide University for a short interview, to see the campus and facilities, and to meet some of the academic staff and students in the School of Mathematical Sciences.
Value: $5,000 to be paid in two instalments.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia
- Be enrolled on a full-time basis in a Commonwealth Supported Place
- Student must achieve at least an A- (or equivalent) in Mathematical Methods
- Be enrolled in the Bachelor of Mathematics degree
- Student must have the Bachelor of Mathematics at Adelaide University as their first preference for university study
Selection criteria
Applications will be shortlisted according to academic merit, application responses and an interview will be conducted with the shortlisted applicants by the selection committee.
A conditional offer will be made to each successful student prior to university preference selection date of each year noting that the student will only be awarded the scholarship under the following criteria:
- Student must achieve at least an A- (or equivalent) in Mathematical Methods and enrol in the Bachelor of Mathematics degree; and
- Student must have the Bachelor of Mathematics at Adelaide University as their first preference for university study.
Important information
The scholarship will provide assistance with education and living costs for the first year of the Bachelor of Mathematics for a maximum duration of 1 year.
The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered; acceptance of the Scholarship offer cannot be deferred.
