The Swanbury Penglase Architecture Grant aims to support new talent in the architecture field through financial support and a placement with Swanbury Penglase.
The grant will be awarded to a student enrolled full-time or part-time in the Master of Architecture (MAARC) program. Applicants should be nearing the completion of 48 units of study (half the Master of Architecture program load).

Eligibility
- Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident of Australia, Holders of Permanent Humanitarian Visa, or New Zealand Citizens.
- Completed/enrolled in 48 units of the Master of Architecture (MAARC) at the time of application (selection is subject to completion of 48 units).
- Grade point average (GPA) of 5.0 or above.
- Submission of a written statement.
- Submission of Curriculum Vitae
Shortlisted applicants may be asked to attend a selection panel interview.
Selection criteria
Applicants are required to provide a written statement (maximum 500 words) detailing:
- Reasons for studying architecture.
- Academic achievements.
- Future career goals including how the grant and placement would help achieve these goals.
- The architectural stream or theme they have a particular interest in (environmental design‚ design and construct‚ digital futures‚ heritage and conversation or other relevant area).
- Agreement to undertake a paid work placement at Swanbury Penglase at a mutually negotiated time and duration. There is a general expectation that the placement will be of two months duration.
Important information
A paid work placement/internship at Swanbury Penglase is a condition of the grant and recipients may wish to integrate the placement into their program. The placement hours can be used towards the completion of Architectural Professional Experience (ARCH 4900).
The grant will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement‚ content of the Curriculum Vitae and written statement‚ enthusiasm for the industry and the desire to undertake work with a leading South Australian architecture firm as demonstrated in the written statement. Interpersonal skills demonstrated in the interview will also be considered.
