Applications now open for 2027 John Monash Scholarships
The John Monash Scholarship offers $100,000 a year for up to three years, supporting outstanding Australians to pursue a Master's or PhD at any university outside Australia.
Whether your passion lies in science, technology, the arts or social impact - this scholarship is open to Australians of all ages and study areas who demonstrate excellence, leadership potential and an ambition to shape a better future for our nation.

Eligibility
You are eligible for a John Monash Scholarship if you:
- Are an Australian Citizen
- Have completed (or will complete by the end of 2026) an undergraduate degree at an Australian University
- Plan to start a full-time Master's or PhD at an overseas university in 2027
Selection criteria
To be a successful in your application, you must demonstrate:
- Academic excellence: This may be evidenced by outstanding academic results, prizes, awards, publications, performances, exhibitions, enterprises and professional endeavours. There is no minimum GPA required, however you must show evidence of your academic ability and capacity to manage the academic rigour of your chosen postgraduate degree.
- Outstanding leadership potential: This may be demonstrated in an academic environment, professional environment and/or your involvement with community.
- A strong vision to build Australia’s capabilities for the future: This may be demonstrated through explaining your career goals, how your career will benefit Australia, and why your chosen university and program are the best fit to help you achieve this.
Important information
There are no restrictions on university choice, as long as the chosen institution is an accredited university outside of Australia, and you can justify why this university can support your future career and also benefit Australia.

How to apply
Applications can be submitted directly via the John Monash Scholarship website.
All applications require:
- Professional résumé
- Official academic transcripts from your undergraduate degree(s) at an Australian university, complete or incomplete (Note: transcripts must be an official certified document generated by your university, not a screenshot or non-certified document from a student portal)
- Three Letters of Recommendation from academic, professional or personal referees who are the most senior people who can speak to your excellence and leadership capabilities.
- A budget plan showing how you will manage your finances abroad using the provided template.
