The Transforming Futures Scholarship has been established at Adelaide University to support commencing students of high academic merit who are experiencing financial hardship, have relocated or plan to relocate from a regional, rural or remote areas, or are experiencing other forms of disadvantage.
Formerly known as the Augustus Short Scholarship, this scholarship honoured Dr Augustus Short, a pioneer of the University of Adelaide, who believed that tertiary education should be accessible to all students of high academic merit, regardless of background or circumstances.

Value: $10,000 per year to be paid in two instalments.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be commencing an undergraduate degree at Adelaide University
- Be an Australian Citizen, permanent resident of Australia or holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
- Be enrolled on a part -time or full-time basis in a Commonwealth Supported Place
- Demonstrate you are in financial need*
*Applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide supporting documentary evidence at the time of application, e.g. details of income tested Commonwealth income support payment, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY benefits, or other details of their financial circumstances.
*Evidence of Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) application or approval does not demonstrate financial need.

Selection of the successful candidate will be made according to:
- Academic Merit,
- Financial need.
- Answers to questions on application form

- The Scholarship must be taken up in the year in which it is offered
- Students receiving other Adelaide University Scholarships may apply for this Scholarship
